Who’s Lucky?

THE “ME” IN “WE” - A Note from Mindy

Hello! I established Lucky Heart in 2018 because I was looking for something more… more meaningful? more creative? more my own voice? Yes, to all of those things. I wanted to create an event planning company that offered amazingly designed events and took to heart you - the client – and your unique story.

We rarely get where we are by going in a straight line and my story has given me all the tools to be the planner I am today. My first job in high school was at a flower shop. I worked from the bottom up. I scrubbed and swept, listened and learned, until I got the point where I was designing bouquets and sitting alongside the owner to meet prospective brides.

I studied at RISD, further developing my art and design skills and for a brief moment almost followed a path to becoming a children’s book Illustrator. Instead, I’ve held a host of interesting jobs since graduating including: college admissions officer, visual merchandising for luxury brands, managing flower shops, and for the past ten+ years: planning and producing events.

I’ve designed weddings from petite backyard celebrations for 13 to large weddings at luxe locations like the MFA. I’ve celebrated mitzvahs (*note a chair with arms works best for the hora). I’ve produced non-profit galas averaging 300 - 500 guests which raising much needed funds for great causes. I’ve arranged corporate parties - including one that used shipping containers for lounges and others with fun themes like Spaghetti Western and Caribbean Paradise. And I’ve been lucky to be involved in other super-fab events like milestone birthdays (one time with fireworks!), baby showers (including a baby reveal at a wedding!!), and amazing destination events.

I’ve been told I’m equal parts artist, designer, planner, unlicensed therapist, etiquette sounding board, budget guru, vision definer, collaborator, and calming force. If you’re looking for a creative “partner-in-crime” then look no further than Lucky Heart.  “We” want to hear your story and create your one-of-a-kind event.

She has produced events in other parts of New England, New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, The Dominican Republic and is willing to go anywhere you want to go!

Why “LUCKY HEART”?

After searching high and low for the perfect name to fit the company, Mindy had an “AHA!” moment when someone asked about the necklace she wears. She replied, ”Oh, this was given to me when I was about 9 or 10 by my Chinese grandmother. It’s a heart with flowers on one side and it says “Lucky” on the other… it’s my lucky heart and I’ve worn it for most of my life.”
It may show some wear and tear (and toothmarks from mindlessly chewing on it as a kid), but to Mindy it represents family and being surrounded by love, luck, and happiness… and it’s a reminder that even when life chews you up a little bit, there is still beauty in the world.
