Hiya - still wondering if Lucky Heart is right for you? Here’s some other random stuff to consider.

What are you reading?

As usual I’m juggling a few books… but here are the last few from the pile:
Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner
Everything is Tuburculosis by John Green
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
Atomic Habits by James Clear
A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben
Circe by Madeline Miller
My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante
Why We Make Things and Why it Matters by Peter Corn

Quote that currently has me thinking:

“Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.”

- Pablo Picasso

What else do you like to do?

In my spare time I enjoy reading books (ok…and gossip mags), wandering around art-gazing, shopping for cool & unique things to add to my tabletop (or yours), trying out new restaurants and revisiting old favorites, starting up conversations with dogs passing by while I walk my dog, Frankie, and pretending to know how to garden.

Frankie AKA Frankie Long Legs, Frankenstein, Franks, Franks ’n’ Beans, Francesca, Francine… the list never ends.
She’s an Australian Cattle Dog Mix - heavy on the mix.

What’s your favorite part of a wedding?

I like to send a text to the couple with the time the officiant pronounced them married. There’s something fun about noting the exact time. At my own wedding a friend wrote “6:45:00” on the back of his place card to let us know when it became official. It means you’re truly witnessing it. You were there. It was real. Time stamped.

Where’s the last place you traveled?

Near ~ China, Maine. Did you know there’s a whole slew of towns in Maine named after different countries and cities? Norway, Paris, Naples, Peru… China is on China Lake.
Far ~ Vienna, Austria. A week-long trip with my mother to explore the city and eat lots of schnitzel and pastries. Ever heard of Salzburger Nockerl??

Who’s outdoor patio are you loving?

After traveling to Austria, it’s hard to pick one. Everyone eats outdoors there all the time.

This next one seems so outdated now… but it happened and it affected so many of us - so I’m keeping it for posterity:
How did Lucky Heart handle COVID-19?

Like everyone else, the pandemic pushed us to think long and hard about what we do and why we do it. We love events and we love our clients, so we take everyone’s health and safety seriously. We make sure the plan in place for your event is the best one possible that takes into account you, your guests, and the vendors who are making your event possible. When on-site for an event we follow all necessary state and federally mandated guidelines which have included wearing masks, carrying hand sanitizer, and allowing ample space for social distancing when necessary. It is nice to see people are still excited to celebrate events and have gathered together again.

What’s cookin’ good lookin’?

I made my first (well now second) basque cheesecake using bon appétit’s recipe. Quite a crowd pleaser and people say, “Whoa. You made a cheesecake?!!”

Why I don’t weigh 1,000 pounds by now is probably due in part to genetics and also some exercise.

What’s your favorite part of a party?

If I’m attending? Dancing.

If I’ve planned it? Also dancing.
Watching everyone cut loose is always fun and sometimes at the very end of the night, when we have a little time before we have to clean-up, I just might show off some moves.
